The name

Kupu means "sprout" in Hawaiian.  The native Hawaiian Kupukupu Fern is one of the first plants to "sprout" up after a lava flow.  Along with having the toughness and ability to thrive in such a harsh environment, it also has the beauty to bring a gracefulness to the landscape.
